Interesting review … I hope to read at least one of the Rand bios coming out for this anniversary year. But I think the reviewer gets a few things wrong. First, I don't think Rand meant to mass-market elitism. If you come away from reading Atlas or Fountainhead thinking you are Roark, Dagny, or Galt then you missed the point. Maybe most people miss the point?

Second, money was a means to an end for Rand … not the meaning of life, but the measure by which one can (not 'will') see one's value. Unfortunately (this is key) 'looters' can also be rich.

I do find this pretty funny.

There are some fundamental misunderstandings in this article that may pull me out of blogging slump and force me to address.

This article decries corporate welfare which I am, of course, against. But I disagree with the idea that more government revenue is necessarily a good thing.

Kudos to Russ Roberts for not pulling any punches in front of Congress.

This is a good piece that exposes people's tendency to take short-term data and turn it into something in their favor. But it doesn't address man's role, the magnitude of that role, and the costs and benefits of doing something about it. I also don't like the title of the article …. the statistics aren't bogus …. the interpretation is.
