Following his undergraduate education at American University, Carl spent four years as a defense industry “beltway bandit” drone working on the international aspects of various large projects.  He then spent six years as a Middle East trade specialist for the U.S. Department of Commerce where he was a member of the implementation team for the U.S.-Oman Free Trade Agreement and managed the U.S.-Egypt Business Council. He may have worked on Iraq during this time as well. He holds a MA in International Commerce & Policy from George Mason University and a MA in Economics also from GMU.  He is a former Cato Institute and Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars intern.  He is currently a Koch Associate and a Policy Associate at Americans for Prosperity.  Carl is an advocate for free trade and liberty.

Carl originally hails from beautiful Oak Lawn, IL and is a graduate of Marist High School.  He currently lives in Alexandria’s West End with his wife Caren.  Caren owns and operates her own business, Oberg Research, an evaluation and audience research firm.

    I noticed a small error in your 10/27/09 AFP post

    “This is merely a new tactic to get the government plan back into the legislation after being systematically rejected by economists, the Congressional Budget Office, and the American people last summer.”

    You may argue that economists and maybe even “the American people” systematically rejected elements of healthcare legislation, but surely CBO doesn’t reject anything, systematically or otherwise.
