I just heard a NBC commentator lament the end of the Romanian women’s gymnastics tradition. Supposedly, little Romanian girls “don’t want to be Nadia anymore.”
Yes, its too bad that a corrupt communist dictatorship no longer funnels the meager resources of one of Europe’s poorest countries into a meaningless competition for glory. Its also too bad that the women of Romania have options beyond adolescent nationalist shill.
